Welcome to WEC 2012!
For 26 years, the Western Engineering Competition has aspired to challenge the minds of western engineering students. WEC allows for engineering students to test their problem solving skills in a healthy competitive atmosphere, while also focusing on the building of their personal networks in a professional environment.
While continuing to challenge the some of the most innovative and driven engineering students of Western Canada, WEC has turned its focus to water for the year of 2012, and will be utilizing the resource in its competitions. WEC understands that water is one of the most essential and universal resources in the world. Its ubiquitous nature has led it to be an influence in all aspects of life; it is a fundamental source for growing food, harnessing energy, exploration and travel, natural disasters, and even entertainment. The organizing committee believes it is important for these emerging engineers to understand the significance of water for our continuous growing society.
The five-day engineering event will allow for students to share engineering intellect, challenge their skill set, and gain exposure to industry. Students will compete in one of six engineering competitions that will showcase their talent outside of the classroom. Professional events with industry will allow students and industry to mix and mingle and give the engineers-to-be a taste of what the future has in-stored.
The WEC organizing committee hopes to leave the competing students with a hunger to sharpen their engineering skill-set and a diverse professional and student network from Western Canada.
We look forward to seeing you all here in January 2012.

The Western Engineering Competition is a non-profit competition held by engineering students from a different Western Canadian university annually. Financial support from the engineering industry of Canada is a key contribution to the competition's yearly success. Without the generosity of the many engineering corporations, a competition catered to the growth of our developing engineering students could never happen. The Western Engineering Competition would like to take this time to deeply thank all of this year's sponsors.
Thank you to our sponsors:
